“The junior School places its own emphasis on community responsibility by encouraging children to support and be of service to each other”
Girls and boys enter the Junior School aged 7, those from Fiveways are joined by children from other schools. It is in integrated community of pupils, parents and teachers which creates a close, friendly, happy and secure atmosphere.
The classes are small so that all pupils receive appropriate support and encouragement from their teachers. A broad and balanced curriculum is taught, teaching is a successful mix of traditional and progressive approaches. As children move through the years, they benefit from a greater input from subject specialists, they are given opportunities to gain in confidence by participating in a wide range of activities.
The Junior School places its own emphasis on community responsibility by encouraging children to support and be of service to one another. Such an approach produces confident, self-reliant and happy children, prepared for the next step on the educational ladder. |

“We are a school which combines traditional values with constant growth and development.”
When you visit our school, you will discover that the girls and boys are welcoming, civilised and polite. They wear their uniform smartly and with pride.
We believe that children thrive with sensitive but firm and structured discipline; we place great emphasis on helping them develop the right habits for life. We encourage enthusiasm, friendship and teamwork. Your daughter or son will face an exciting and challenging academic curriculum, with plenty of opportunities to be involved in a wide variety of sporting, dramatic, musical and cultural activities.
We believe that the traditional values, of the pursuit of excellence and integrity in personal relationships, still hold true today, but we are not a school to stand still. The school has been extensively modernised to meet today's academic, technological and sporting requirements.
You are invited to come and meet the Headmaster and the teaching staff. You will be most welcome to have a tour round the school and to form your own opinion of us.

Although Ryde School provides education for boys and girls on the Isle of Wight, we also look after a number of boarders who travel over from the mainland or further afield. Our spacious campus at Bembridge is home for our boarders, many of whom go home at the weekends. This flexible arrangement allows busy parents and pupils to work hard in the week and relax together at weekends.
Pupils travel into Ryde from Bembridge each day on a school bus, returning in the evening to eat, work, relax and sleep.
“The boarding campus is a wonderful, friendly place to be. I feel like part of a big happy family. The pupils are like my brothers and sisters, and the staff, my parents. It is so nice to come ‘home’ after school each day.” |
