Welcome to Bapchild & Tonge CE Primary School
Bapchild & Tonge Church of England (Aided) Primary School is an extremely popular school throughout the Sittingbourne area.
The school is always tastefully displayed with examples of children’s work. The staff are committed to providing a tidy environment in which the children can work. Such an approach ensures that the children are motivated and want to work.
What does the School offer to its Pupils and Staff
Bapchild & Tonge Church of England (Aided) Primary School is an extremely happy school. It has undergone two Ofsted inspections and both have commented favourably upon its positive ethos. Much of this is due to the caring nature of the teaching and non-teaching staff all of whom are committed to ensuring that the children are happy and contented, both at work and at play.
At present the school follows the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies, and the QCA Schemes of Work. It has its own scheme of work for Religious Education which follows the Kent Agreed Syllabus. Following the last Ofsted Inspection the staff formulated a curriculum framework which enabled foundation subjects to be linked rather than taught in isolation. Governors closely monitor the curriculum and its ‘Curriculum Committee’ meet from time to time to discuss current practice and possible changes needed to be made in the light of new initiatives and legislation.
The recent acquisition of a networked computer suite, linked to all classrooms, has enhanced ICT teaching throughout the school and has enabled children readily to access information to support that available from the school’s new Millennium Library, or elsewhere.
