BICKLEY PARK SCHOOL – a way of life

Bickley Park School is an independent day school for boys aged from 2½ to 13 years. Founded in 1918, it is situated on two attractive sites in pleasant grounds in Bickley, just outside Bromley. The school offers around 400 boys a first-class start to their education and a successful springboard to their chosen public schools, the most popular of which include Tonbridge, King’s Canterbury and Sevenoaks.

Bickley Park moves into the future with confidence keeping pace with, and sometimes ahead of, the latest teaching and technological developments, whilst retaining our traditional values and high standards. A new music department, an impressive new sports hall, a covered swimming pool and a theatre are soon to be added to the already outstanding facilities and will complement our pleasant Victorian buildings and purpose built Science and Art departments.

CURRICULUM

Boys in a science lesson

Our curriculum is designed to achieve good results – both in preparing the boys for Common Entrance or Scholarship to public school at 13+ and to equip them with a sound foundation for their future lives.

From Year 4 onwards, highly qualified, specialist teachers teach Art, Design & Technology, English, French, Geography, History, Maths, Music, PSE (Personal and Social Education), Religious Studies, Science, Study Skills and ICT; the latter boasts a modern computer suite with wireless networked PCs. Current Affairs is taught in Years 5 and 6 and Spanish is also added to the curriculum from Year 6 onwards.

CLUBS

Clubs take place at 3.30pm on Mondays to Thursdays inclusive. Each club lasts for about 45 minutes and, although optional, they are enjoyed by the majority of the boys.

We aim to offer a diverse selection of clubs to choose from each night and presently offer 24 different choices throughout the week and the clubs available will change on a termly basis.

Many clubs are taken by our own staff but we do have visiting instructors for canoeing and fencing, both of which prove to be very popular.

UNIFORM

All clothes should be in good condition and repair. Long trousers can be worn throughout the school, although Juniors can wear short trousers if they wish.
