Welcome to the Reception Classes. Our teachers are Mrs. Mundy, Mrs. Ashton and Mrs. Richardson.
We have started to learn about the phonic alphabet and have been making toast with tayberry jam for ‘t’.
We have just started to stay all day in school making more time for lots of fun and learning!
Welcome to Year 1
Hello, in Year One at the moment we are looking at the topic of animals. We have been exploring how animals are very different and why. We have looked at how to look after animals and what they need to be happy. In design and technology we designed and made a carrier to take a pet to the vets. We made a carrier for kittens, mice and even frogs! Soon we will be learning about where animals live and why they live there. We are having great fun learning about animals.
Welcome to Year 2
Our teachers are Miss Bates and Miss Richardson and we are in two classes, Cats and Kingfishers.
During the Autumn term we have been learning how to Keeping Healthy. Here is some of own work.
Welcome to Year 3
Our teachers in year 3 are Mrs Limbu and Mrs Ardley & Mrs Young who share a class. Both our classrooms look out onto Church Road and the main gate.
This term in Year 3 we are learning about Healthy Eating and Teeth in Science, with a planned visit to Tesco’s for a glimpse behind the scenes ( how doughnuts are made !! ) and a talk about teeth from the school nurse. Our next topic will be the Properties of Materials, when we investigate how absorbent hard and heavy different materials are.
Throughout the year we study a range of text types and genres of reading materials in Literacy, including performance poetry and traditional tales.
In Numeracy the topics include such areas as place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, shape & space and problem solving.
In History we study early Britain, starting with the Celts then the Romans, hopefully this will include a “hands-on “ workshop and a visit to The Library to investigate Roman Folkestone.
In Geography we start the year by considering the climate in different parts of the world, choosing what to pack in holiday suitcases, according to the destination.
During term 3 we have swimming lessons at Folkestone Leisure Centre, which we are already looking forward to it.
Welcome to Year 4
We are two classes in Year 4.
Mostly we all get on very well together, work hard and do our best.
Between us we have lots of different interests and belong to lots of different clubs both in and out of school. These include sports, collecting wrestling DVDs, yu-gi-oh cards and interesting stones and feathers, making paper aeroplanes and figures, horse riding, going to football, art club and the school choir.
We are particularly enjoying ICT this term which is all about repeating patterns and have discovered the symmetry tool and made some BRILLIANT patterns.
Welcome to Year 5
Year 5 teachers for the academic year 2006 -2007 are Mr. Simon Young and Mr. Clifford Bell and they are ablyo assisted by Teaching Assistants Mrs. Lorraine Doran, Mrs. Pam Davies, and Mrs. Carol Jones.
The many topics we are studying this year include the Victorians whilst after Christmas we are looking at Victorian Folkestone, so we hope to visit some local features such as the Leas lift and the Bandstand.
Our Science topics for this year include Earth and Space. In the spring we are going to study Healthy Eating, where will be learning about our bodies and ways to keep fit and healthy.
In November both year 5 classes went to the Leas Cliff Hall to see Michael Rosen a popular childrens’ author as part of the Literature Festival.
Also eight children are attending an I.C.T. Course on spreadsheets at All Souls School, every Wednesday up until Christmas.
Although there will not be a Christmas performance this year in Key Stage 2 there will be a Christingle Service, details will be made available shortly.
5B have been taught by a Student Teacher from Canterbury this term. Mr. Kettle has had a successful Teaching Practice and his due to take up a Teaching Post at Aylesford after Christmas. We wish him all the best in his future career.
Year 5 is a very important year what with S.A.T. S. and the Kent Test looming up in Year 6, so it’s vital children complete homework and work very hard.

Welcome to Year 6
In year 6 we have two classes aught by Miss Speed and Mrs Bower. This is a very important year for us and we know we must work very hard and take responsibility for our own learning.
One of our favourite subjects is Art. Last term we completed a unit of work entitled “People in Action” and we each produced a film strip of a character engaged in an activity. Miss Speed’s class created a class book from these film strips.
In History we are looking at Fashion Through the Decades. We are creating PowerPoint presentations to record our findings and we will be performing a fashion show to KS2 in the last week of term.
Year 6 are involved with a project to produce a mural on the wall outside Mrs Bower’s classroom, working with an artist from outside the school. We are looking forward to seeing the results of this.
