Welcome to Culverstone Green Primary School

Our Vision

At Culverstone Green, we provide a positive and safe environment where individual learners are respected and encouraged to develop as independent life long learners. We aim to develop an understanding of ourselves and others therefore celebrating individuality and ensuring equality for all. At Culverstone Green, we nurture the creative development of individuals socially, morally and physically. We recognise and embrace all successes and efforts, no matter how small, allowing everyone to fulfil their true potential. Through working as a team and establishing home / school links, we aim to foster happy, secure and honest children.

We have a beautiful site of two and a quarter acres, set in the heart of a rural community. The site is fully utilised to enhance the curriculum offered to our children.

We have extensive playing fields and a large playground. Special features of our site include a solar heated swimming pool with changing rooms, an outdoor classroom and stage, a wildlife area with pond, a quiet garden seating area, and covered outside activity area for the reception class which ensures that our youngest children can play in the fresh air throughout the year. There is also an independent playgroup on the site.

EXTENDED SCHOOL

We have positive links with local pre-school providers, the parish church, secondary schools and other agencies. Children benefit from frequent educational visits. We raise an awareness of the needs of others through our charity work.

We have an active Friends of Culverstone Parent/Teacher Association who host many events for the whole community to attend.

Each term we run and host a variety of after school and lunchtime clubs, including music, games, maths, art, languages and dance. Culverstone After School Club caters for the needs of working parents of children age 3 to 11, collecting children from the school and walking them to Culverstone Community Centre.

We have been awarded the Sportsmark in recognition of Physical Education provided by the school. Children have opportunities to represent the school for football, netball, cricket, athletics and rugby. We have achieved Healthy Schools status and aim to promote healthy living through diet and exercise, including a walking bus.

CHILDREN

Our school caters for 4-11 year-olds arranged in seven classes each catering for a single year group. We currently have nearly 200 children on roll and can admit up to 30 children each year in our reception class.

We aim to provide a broad, balanced and creative curriculum which challenges every child and encourages them to develop lively, enquiring minds. We try to make learning fun through engaging and interesting lessons.

Every classroom has a computer and interactive whiteboard. In addition we have a dedicated computer suite and library. We have been awarded the Sportsmark in recognition of Physical Education provided by the school.

Children's successes in a wide range of academic, social and sporting areas are celebrated in a variety of ways including regular Achievement Assemblies. Children are able to voice their views through the School Council.

PARENTS

At Culverstone Green Primary School we believe that by working in a close partnership with parents children will achieve their best.

There are many opportunities, both formal and informal, for parents to find out about the work of the school and how their child is progressing, and to raise any concerns they may have. Parents can get involved more actively with the school in many ways: through working on either a paid or a voluntary basis within the school, by helping with transport or the walking bus, by joining the PTA committee or supporting its events, by becoming a parent governor.
