Welcome to Hamstreet Primary School
Our aim at the school is to ensure that your child has a happy start to their schooling. The staff at the school have a friendly and caring approach and we hope this will help both you and your child settle in.
Naturally, we ask for your support and interest throughout your child's school life as, by working together, the children are more likely to succeed in fulfilling their potential.
We are committed to the ideal of a partnership in education between home and school and, to this end, prospective parents are invited to visit the school and meet the staff and children.
You must feel free, at all times to approach the staff, or myself to discuss any concerns you may have - we will be happy to discuss them with you.
The school has excellent facilities providing a stimulating environment for all to work in. We have
- a well stocked library, a large hall for dance, drama, music, PE and assembly
- an ICT suite
- a study area for all children, good physical education facilities including the hall, sports field, swimming pool and hard surface courts
- a community learning room
- an outdoor environment incorporating a wildlife garden with pond, an outdoor classroom and a sensory garden for study and reflection
- a large playground providing differentiated areas for active and quiet play
- a full range of technical equipment including computers in classrooms and laptops for whole-class use, access to the Internet, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, tape recorders, TV, videos, sound system, stage lighting and interactive CD player.
Our building also has provision for disabled pupils.
A private nursery Highways at Hamstreet Kindergarten is also situated on our school site. It is independent of the school but if you are interested in a place at the nursery please contact Nicky Withey-Stevens on 01233 732915.

- To ensure that children are collected from school on time.

Literacy (with drama), Numeracy, Science, RE and Information Technology. Foundation Subjects Art, Music, History, Geography, Physical Education and Design and Technology.
Personal, Social and Health Education including sex education, environmental education and introduction to a foreign language The school has subject Policy Statements for each curriculum area. These are under constant review but are available for parents to see on request. A brief summary of how each subject is approached is given below.
Sandcastles Class - Year R
We actively encourage our children to pursue their interest through the extensive range of clubs on offer. These currently include choir, recorders, orchestra, netball, football, kung fu, maypole dancing, art, environment, cricket, athletics, cross-stitch art and foreign languages. Activities take place during the lunch hour or after school.
In addition, lessons are available during school time in violin, piano, keyboard, clarinet, guitar and brass instruments. These are taught by visiting freelance specialists or Kent Music School Staff.
Some other activities eg dance, French club, Brazilian football, take place after school and are taught by out-of-school organisations so a small fee is charged.
