Dear Visitor,
Welcome to our school website. I hope you will find it both useful and informative and that you enjoy browsing through these pages to find out more about our lovely school and the exciting activities that happen here.
We think it’s vital to build a secure and happy environment where every child feels highly |
|
valued and is motivated to achieve their full potential. Working in partnership with parents and the local community enables us to provide a well supported and varied curriculum for all of our children. |
We are very fortunate to have huge school grounds, with lots of areas such as an enormous playing field with lots of trees to shade us from the sun, logs to play on and 2 football pitches.
We have 2 hard surfaced playgrounds covered in markings to play on which are used in winter or when the field is wet. We are currently learning and playing lots of skipping games after a brilliant school assembly.
|
|
|
We have a log cabin which we take turns to play on and we are looking forward to our planned new "Trim Trail"
We have a lovely Millennium Garden with picnic tables, an outdoor classroom (complete with new hedgehog houses!) and an environment area with a pond.
| |
Outside the Reception classroom there is a fantastic play area that gets used every day.
All the classrooms have just had new Interactive Whiteboards installed and all the children are benefitting from this fantastic resource. We also have a laptop trolley which is used extensively throughout the school.
|
|
We have an extensive library and some new Browser boxes for the younger children to choose colour coded books from.
|
Langton Green School comprises of 7 classes covering Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, we have children from the age of 4 right through to 11.
All the children come together during some assemblies and at breaktime and lunchtime and it is lovely to see all ages playing together and supporting each other in a really caring atmosphere.
|
|
The younger children are looked after and taught playground games by the older children, some of whom take on the role of “Playground Co-ordinators” and the older children learn to become responsible for those around them.
Each of our classes has a teacher, sometimes two and at least one teaching assistant to support the children in their learning.
The links below take you into our classes and give you a brief overview of life at our school |

|
At Langton Green the pupils and teachers follow the National Curriculum for English, Mathematics, Science, Information Communication Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music, Design Technology and Physical Education.
The school curriculum also includes Religious Education and Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education. Pupils in Reception class follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum. |
|
The work in each class is planned around a series of termly and half termly topics, these topics being organised so that as many areas of the curriculum as possible are included as research has shown that children learn best when subjects are interlinked rather than being taught discreetly.
Pupils are encouraged to work independently, collaboratively in groups or as a whole class according to the tasks in which they are involved.
Children’s progress through the National Curriculum levels is assessed throughout the year and we also use standardised tests to monitor progress in Key Stage 2. The pupils in Years 2 and 6 take part in the national Standard Assessment Tests. The Foundation Stage Profile is completed at the end of the Reception year.
| We offer a wide range of clubs and activities, both at lunchtime and after school. All are popular and well supported.
Football Football Club is for boys and girls in Years 5 and 6. It runs after school on Wednesdays until 4.15 p.m. Regular matches are played against local schools and there are plenty of opportunities to play in either an A or B team for these. Each year we take part in a cup competition with other local schools. For further details see Mr Gillinder.
Netball Netball Club is offered on Mondays after school until 4.15 p.m. in the Autumn and Spring terms for Years 4, 5 and 6. All are welcome. We play regular matches against local schools and take part in an inter-schools tournament. Mrs Black and Mrs Moriarty run this club.
Choir All children in Years 4, 5 and 6 are warmly invited to attend choir practices. These take place on Monday lunch times. The choir has recently performed at the Assembly Hall and regularly support school productions. They have enjoyed singing carols at the Pantiles, one version of which was broadcast on Radio Kent . Mrs Smith welcomes new recruits.
Singing Group Singing group is for our younger singers – Years 2 and 3, and is run by Mrs Lees on Wednesday lunchtimes. We sing a variety of well-known fun songs as well as songs from musicals and some lesser known, more challenging, songs and rounds. Year 1 children will be invited to attend towards the end of the spring term. See Mrs Lees if you wish to join.
Rounders Club This is a late Summer term club for Years 4, 5 and 6. A good way to while aware an hour after school on a warm summers evening. |
