Pembury School

Welcome to Pembury School

We aim to create a safe and secure climate in which children are able to learn and develop their own worth as unique individuals, along side their acceptance of the diversity of others. In this way, we will encourage the children in our care to become responsible citizens, carrying out their role in the community with honesty, integrity and goodwill.

See why parents choose our school and why their children enjoy our learning environment …

About our School

Pembury School caters for children between the ages for 4 and 11 years. The school dates back to the early 1900s and is situated in the village of Pembury. The school consists of seven year groups, Reception, Years 1 & 2, Years 3, 4, 5 & 6, representing three Key Stages – Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. There are 2 classes in each year group.

At school we aim to develop every child intellectually, creatively, socially, emotionally, morally and physically by

  • Providing a safe, happy and stimulating environment in which learning takes place.
  • Expecting the highest standards of achievement, appropriate to each child’s abilities and behaviour through positive praise and encouragement.
  • Promoting an active partnership between pupils, all staff, parents, governors and the wider community
  • Teaching a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum which extends the children’s interests
  • Providing opportunities for imaginative and creative expression.
  • Promoting active participation in sport to encourage team spirit, good sportsmanship, exercise and healthy living
  • Providing opportunities for appreciation of the world around us.

PARENTS COMMUNICATIONS

The school provides a series of assessment systems for tracking pupils’

academic progress and setting personal targets and monitoring their progress towards them. This provides a whole-school picture which allow teachers to effectively plan additional support for individuals when required, for example, early literacy intervention and booster groups.

Open classroom sessions provide parents the opportunity to visit the classrooms, see layout of rooms plans and to sit with their child to discuss their child's work. The open classroom sessions are run in terms 1,3 and 5.

Consultations are run in terms 2,4 and 6 and provide parent the opportunity to review their child’s progress and discuss areas of improvement with the teacher.
