Dear Parents
The date for our appeal hearing regarding the above development has been set for 10.00am on Wednesday 9th January (the first week back at school after the Christmas Holidays) and will be held at the Hollybush Lane Indoor Bowls Centre. Prior to the end of term Mr Brand and I will be holding an information meeting at the school on Thursday 29th November from 8.00pm in the School Hall for parents and other supporters to find out how to contribute most effectively to the school's case.
As a reminder, our plans are for a new kitchen, dining room and toilets on the ground floor together with a drama suite and four music teaching rooms above. The plans are on display in the School Hall foyer should you wish to see them. We are sited in the Green Belt and development is deemed "inappropriate" unless there are "very special circumstances". The school's team of myself, Mr Brand, Mr Keith Robinson (Governor), Mr Fred Robinson (Planning Consultant) and Mr Phil Hobbs (parent and initial architect on the project) have worked to provide evidence of these "very special circumstances". It would also be enormously helpful to have as many supporters as possible at the hearing.
The appeal is a public hearing and therefore any member of the public may attend. The inspector will have read all the documentation prior to the hearing and will take note of anybody wishing to register their interest and whether they wish to make a contribution to the hearing. The hearing will largely be a discussion chaired by the Inspector and led by Mr Fred Robinson on our side and a member of the council on the other. Before closing the hearing, the Inspector will make a visit to the school to view the site. The council and school representatives will accompany him/her on the site visit and may be involved in further discussion. For those of you who are unable to attend the information meeting, but who wish to attend the appeal hearing and know how to contribute to our case, please contact either Mr Brand or myself.
