St. Joseph's is a Catholic School with high academic standards & strong parish links.

This has been recognised recently by OfSTED and Archdiocese of Southwark inspectors who have judged the school to be 'outstanding' in the teaching and care of the children here.

It is the aim of everyone here to help children develop in their journey of faith in a positive learning environment. There is a secure and caring atmosphere which fosters learning and discovery.

MISSION STATEMENT

Every child matters at St. Joseph`s. Each child feels cherished for their unique personal worth, that each thrives through structured play and purposeful activities; developing personal and social confidence; a real enjoyment of learning with personal and group achievement in a rich and stimulating environment.

At St. Joseph's we strive to develop a Catholic, Christian Community where staff and pupils may deepen their faith through receiving the Sacraments, through study, example and respecting the beliefs and values of others.

We have a happy learning environment where the children feel secure and confident. A broad and balanced curriculum is provided, meeting with the requirements of the National Curriculum and beyond. We aim to cater for the individual needs of the pupils, provide for their talents and help them to overcome any learning and/or emotional difficulties.

We nurture self-confidence and self-esteem through praise, encouraging all pupils to become independent learners and eager to face new challenges.

The children are encouraged to look after their school environment and become aware of everyone's need to care for the world/communities in which they live.

The professional development of the staff will be enhanced through Performance Management, Inset and career guidance from internal / eternal advisers. The staff support one another in their spiritual and emotional lives.

ADMISSIONS

St Joseph`s is a Catholic School to be proud of. We strive to promote the values of Christian faith throughout our daily life. Pupils receive a broad and balanced curriculum. We constantly review and evaluate the achievements of the school.

St Joseph`s strives to achieve a good partnership between Governors, Staff, Parents and the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption. We firmly believe that everyone can develop their talents and it is important to recognise success in all forms.

St Joseph`s has developed an excellent reputation based on the quality of education provided and its distinctive Catholic nature. We provide a loving and caring community.

The school achieved the Investor in People Award, confirming that we value the development of all members of the school community. Our last Ofsted* inspection in June 2006, recognised the school to be 'Outstanding'.
