i)  St Mary's Island Church of England (Aided) Primary School exists to provide the highest-quality education for the children in its care, in line with its Trust Deed.

ii)  As a Church of England (Aided) school, the Christian faith is at the heart of our corporate life.   We aim to give all the children an education rooted in Christian values, without compromising their home culture.   This education embraces spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects as well as physical, emotional and academic issues.

iii)  The Governors aim to recruit staff who are highly-qualified, committed professionals, working together with them as a school team to create a physical and academic environment in which children have the maximum opportunity to learn, and to develop in every way to prepare them for entry to the adult world.

iv)  The school aims to work in collaboration with children; in listening to their views, and in doing its utmost to meet the pastoral and academic needs of individuals within the needs of the community.

v)  We aim to work in close partnership with parents, acknowledging their role as the prime educators of their own children.  This is a two-way activity, with support being offered and received by both home and school.

vi)  We aim to work within the community of St Mary’s Island.  We have a special relationship with the Island Church, which meets in the school Hall.  We also aim to work with the Diocese of Rochester, Medway Education, and other local and national bodies, all in order that the pupils at the school may benefit.

vii) The Governors aim to provide the best resources and highest staffing levels to meet the diverse needs of all children, giving best value for money whilst remaining within the constraints of the budget and any other finance available to the school.

We wish our school to be a place of beauty, where God's wonderful world is celebrated through the creative arts.  We want that beauty to penetrate into everyone's spirit, so that our Christian profession is lived out in the way in which we treat each other and our surroundings.
