Welcome to Stelling Minnis CE Primary School situated near to Stone Street the old Roman road connecting Lympne to the ancient city of Canterbury.
Stelling Minnis School is a rural primary school. Our history dates back to 1784, one of the oldest schools in Kent, but now completely refurbished and extended to offer a modern environment. Our school is situated in the delightful village of Bossingham, some 6 miles from Canterbury and some 12 miles from Folkestone. Children attend our school from many of the neighbouring villages. A co-educational Church of England school, our mission is to educate the whole child in a secure professional, caring and Christian environment.
The School
We are fortunate in having a strong team of dedicated staff, a very supportive and commited team of Governors and an active Parent Teacher Association, to which all parents automatically belong. Throughout the year the PTA help us in many ways by organising and arranging a range of social and fund-raising events. In a happy and hard working family atmosphere children are taught to respect each other, reach their full potential, prepare for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adulthood. We have an open policy where you are encouraged to talk to the headteacher or teachers about your child whenever you feel it necessary.
We place a high emphasis on small teaching groups and learning through reading and creative exploration and interpretation. As well as daily teaching of Literacy and Numeracy, we strongly believe in the value of a broad and balanced curriculum.
This may involve other organisations working with us at the school, such as Simply Soccer which is involved in our teaching of football. The school has flexible classrooms, a multipurpose hall, a kitchen, a library and a state of the art computer suite.
