WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!

Picture of cover of School Prospectus

The school prospectus, which was designed and printed by Russel Spinks Graphic Design, is available in PDF format by clicking on the image alongside (it will open in a new window). To view this document, you will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is available as a free download using the link below:

We are grateful to Russel for permission to use images from the prospectus on this website.

To supplement the "fixed" information in the School Prospectus, we produce a set of inserts which contain information which varies from year to year. This includes not only "annual" data such as staff lists and GCSE and A Level examination results, for example, but also aspects of the organisation of the school which may need to be updated in order to adapt to the rapidly changing educational world in which we live, such as the Pastoral System and the range of courses on offer within the curriculum.

These inserts are included within the School Prospectus when it is issued to prospective students and their parents at our Open Evening, usually held in September. Those issued in September 2006 are available as a PDF document here - the September 2007 version will replace them just before the Open Evening.

HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION

Special Announcement Line - 0870 013 0261
A recorded message will be left on this line when the school needs to relay special information to parents, such as school closures, training day and return to school reminders, event starting times or cancellations.

School Profile
We have just updated our on-line School Profile in accordance with the government's initiative to make more information about public sector organisations available via the web.
The Profile is divided into a number of sections which outline how well we are performing in various areas - our successes, our students' academic achievement, where we are with the Every Child Matters agenda and so on. Click here to view it in a new window or tab.

Picture of a crumpled letter

Throughout the year, we send out quite a number of letters to parents on a wide range of issues - reports, school trips, PTFA events, examination arrangements etc. Apart from the increasing cost of such correspondence, we are fairly sure that not all of these letters actually make it to the intended recipients! So, as with the Information Booklet, we intend to place a copy of every letter that we produce here on this website.

CODE OF CONDUCT

We are in the process of updating our behaviour policy and are intending to combine the various documents currently in existence - the Code of Conduct, the School Rules, the Rewards and Sanctions policy etc - into a single, clear statement of how we expect our students to conduct themselves appropriately and the rewards they will receive when they do - and what will happen to them if they don't! We want the school to be a happy, supportive learning environment where everyone respects everyone else.

SIXTH FORM

Students benefit from individual monitoring, advice about future career paths, and a wide curriculum which meets their needs very effectively. They make very good progress and A-level results continue to rise each year. This is the result of very good teaching. Students' attitudes are very good and they are helped to develop into mature young men. They enjoy the responsibilities available to them and are good role models for younger students. A very high percentage of students stay on to the sixth form and almost all complete their courses. The sixth form benefits from dynamic and good leadership with a clear vision for the future and the energy to sustain and build on its current success.
