Extra Curricular

The Aberdeen Grammar School has a long tradition of providing the opportunity for pupils to engage in extra curricular activities. The school has almost fifty clubs, societies and teams that pupils can join.

These extra cirricular activities provide pupils with the opportunity to enrich their learning experence and to provide valuable life skills.

Sports

Rugby
The school has a range of rugby teams for boys between S1 to S6. There are currently a number of teams that play for the school, allowing pupils to play friendly and competitive matches across the entire academic year.
Hockey
The school has several hockey teams. There are both boy teams and girl teams, and all yeargroups between S1 to S6 have the opportunity to play for a team. In addition there are many practice sessions run throughout the year.

Basketball
There are currently 4 basketball teams playing for the school, allowing both boys and girls to become involved with basketball.

Netball
At present there are 2 teams for girls to play netball in - a junior S1/S2 team, and a senior team.
Rock Climbing
Throughout the year, groups of Grammar pupils get together with pupils from Oldmachar Academy to go climbing once a fortnight at Summerhill Education Centre indoor climbing wall. During the summer months groups also go climbing down at the cliffs of Cove. During 2005/06 three weekends away were organised which gave pupils the chance to climb on cliffs of the north coast, Ratho Adventure centre and Kinlochleven Ice Factor, indoor ice climbing wall.

Swimming
There are currently 2 events held every year for swimming allowing pupils to take part in competitions whenever the opportunity arises.
Football
Many teams playing for the school - Under 13s, 14s, 15s, 18s, and also a Coca Cola Boys team, and a Coca Cola girls team.

Teams regularly practice and enter leagues throughout the year.

Cricket
The school also provides an opportunity for pupils to practice and play cricket practice being held every week. The cricket club also plays competitively. The cricket club also has good links to other clubs around Aberdeen, allowing players to widen their scope of experience.

Golf
Golf is also provided for at Aberdeen Grammar. In 2004/05 a team was entered into the Aberdeen School's League.

The former pupils club is heavily involved with rugby, football and hockey and cricket, regularly playing competitive matches
