Welcome !!!

New Machar School, in the village and parish of Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, is a primary school incorporating a nursery and acts as a feeder school to Dyce Academy.

The current roll is just under 370 pupils, but with the recent and planned development of the area, this is only likely to increase in future.

At New Machar our School Aims take account of the Quality Indicators in How Good is Our School and Health and Safety issues for the pupils in our care.

We aim to:
  • Encourage children to display positive attitudes.
  • Ensure that pupils, parents and staff are treated with respect and in a fair and positive manner.
  • Provide an environment which is welcoming, happy and safe for pupils, parents, staff and visitors
We aim to:
  • Provide a secure environment which fosters the positive development of all who are associated with New Machar School.
We aim to:
  • Run an effective school in the best interests of the pupils, staff and parents.
  • Provide positive leadership and develop a keen sense of teamwork with all members of the wider community.
  • Provide an Annual Standards and Quality report which reflects the work of the school and provides a clear focus for self-evaluation and further development.
We aim to:
  • Continually develop the curriculum in line with National Priorities, local authority priorities, current school needs and 3-14 guidelines
    We aim to:
    • Provide appropriate programmes of work to challenge all pupils to reach their full potential.
    • Provide an exciting, stimulating learning environment where pupils will maximise their learning potential.
    • Encourage pupils to develop confidence and a responsible attitude towards their learning.
    We aim to:
    • Promote each child’s self esteem in an atmosphere where individuals are listened to and valued.
    • Create an environment where opportunities arise for praise, encouragement and success. Provide a suitable programme of extra curricular activities which contributes positively to the child’s personal and social development.
    We aim to:
    • Make the best possible use of facilities and resources available both within the school and the wider community.
    • Deploy all staff in an effective manner and have an appropriate Staff Development and Review Programme.
    We aim to:
    • Use appropriate methods of assessment to inform our planning and raise attainment for our pupils.
    • This will involve both formal and informal methods including National Assessments.
    • Provide an annual report to parents which includes level of attainment, effort, progress and next steps for the pupils.
