PRIMARY SCHOOL

St. Peter's RC Primary School, Aberdeen

St Peter's RC Primary School is a Catholic primary school for pupils between the ages of 5 and 12. We serve the parishes of St Peter's, St Joseph's and St Columba's. Other Christians, Jews and many Muslim families choose to send their children to St Peter's. We also have children from families who have no religious belief. We enjoy a rich diversity in religious, social and ethnic mix.

  • We affirm the religious and cultural identities of all and strive to create a caring community where everyone is valued.
  • We aim to create a secure environment in which Gospel values of trust, respect, tolerance, honesty and forgiveness are seen in everything that is attempted.
  • We strive to foster the individual spiritual, educational, social and personal development of all our children by providing a broad and balanced curriculum.

We have been happily settled in our current premises since 1983. The main building of our school houses :

  • four classrooms
  • the library and music room
  • the large store and resources room
  • the general purpose room where we make good use of our interactive whiteboard and suite of laptop PCs
  • the huge gym/dining hall (which is in high demand for after-school activities from community groups)
  • offices for the headteacher and administrator
  • staff room.

Our vision is to provide a Catholic school education that will enable all young people to become

successful learners

confident individuals

responsible citizens

effective contributors.

To help fulfil this overall goal, we aim to:

1. Create a secure environment in which everything we attempt mirrors the Gospel values of trust, respect, tolerance, honesty and forgiveness;

2. Provide a welcoming, caring atmosphere and foster joy and enthusiasm for learning;

3. Include all children, supporting those with additional needs;

4. Offer the highest quality of learning opportunities in a well-resourced school;

5. Reflect, respect and celebrate each child’s home environment and their diverse cultures and religions;

6. Promote justice and peace, respect for all life and concern for the environment;

7. Maintain an effective code of discipline with dignity;

8. Develop the strengths of the school community by building links and partnerships between children, parents, staff,    faith communities, educational agencies and wider society;

9.  Support the physical, social, spiritual, mental and emotional health and wellbeing of all pupils and staff;

10. Involve children in enterprising activities, generating creativity and co-operation.

11. Foster high quality leadership at all levels
