Aboyne Academy
Aboyne Academy lies on Royal Deeside. It is a noted Scottish school in north-east Scotland, 30 miles (48 km) west of Aberdeen. Balmoral Castle, the Queen's Highland home, lies 20 minutes away.
The school commands an educational base of:
- Outstanding resources
- Roll of 670 and growing annually
- Strong integration with the local community
- 10 associated primary schools in attractive villages
Parent - teacher involvement means that six-year, non-denominational education is backed by an active school board, fund-raising group and pupil council.
The school serves rural communities in some of Scotland's most beautiful countryside. The modern curriculum is matched by buildings that are fully updated in all areas of science and technology. The school contains a 236-seat theatre, 25-metre swimming pool, squash court, games hall with climbing wall, fitness room, and up-to-date library shared with the public.
Aboyne Academy boasts a maximum of 20 pupils in practical classes (science, technological subjects, expressive arts and business education), and classes of no more than 30 in all other subjects. More than half the pupils continue into further or higher education. Former pupils are represented at all the Scottish and English universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
