School Aims:

Discipline

Discipline is essential to promote effective learning and teaching. A general aim of the school is to promote positive relationships and to provide a caring and positive ethos in which pupils, staff and parents are valued and respected.

School Rules:
  • The school rules have been devised by the children. The main rules are :
  • Respect people for who they are
  • Treat others the way you would like to be treated
  • Look after everyone and everything
  • Always be polite

UNIFORM

School Uniform :The wearing of school uniform is strongly recommended.  A royal blue sweatshirt and light blue polo shirts have been designed and are worn by most children.  These can be ordered through the school.  Other recommended articles are -  

Boys : grey trousers, light blue polo shirt     Girls : grey skirt or pinafore, grey or black trousers and a light blue polo shirt.     

                               

PE : A t-shirt and shorts should be named and kept in school in a named gym bag.  You should also provide a pair of gym shoes your child can put on and take off by themselves.

School Clothing Grants : If you feel you may qualify for a school clothing grant, application forms are available from the school office or Angus Council, Education Department, County Buildings, Market Street, Forfar, DD8 3WE, Tel : 08452 777778

MEALS

 

 

School Meals : It is the Authority's policy to provide meals and facilities for children to eat a packed lunch in all schools where these are required.   

At Barry PS, two course meals are served daily at a cost of £1.55 per day.  There is a four week rotating menu which is sent out to parents so that children can choose to attend school lunches on the days of their choice.     If paying by cheque, it should be made payable to Angus Council and sent in at the beginning of the week if possible.

COUNCIL

At Barry we have a pupil council where issues relating to the school are discussed with council members.

Buddies and prefects are from the P7 class.

Buddies help the younger children in the playground arranging games and mediating.

Prefects work mainly indoors monitoring corridors and toothbrushing and running the healthy tuckshop.

They also participate in weekly assemblies.
