The Nursery was established in 1975 and has been in its present situation within the school building since 1997. The Nursery for three year olds was set up in August 2003. The large classroom has a carpeted area for games, toys, general play and quiet corner and a wet area for painting, sand, water, baking, etc. The Nursery Classes have access to the SEU's Soft Play area on a daily basis and their Multi-Sensory Room. There is a large outdoor play area with a variety of outdoor equipment. We also make use of the school library, gym and have music.
Children are encouraged to communicate with other adults in school, e.g. messages to office and cook. To develop a sense of community in the school, four year old nursery children occasionally join in school assemblies and small groups of P7 pupils visit both Nurseries during their interval and lunch break to play and chat with the children.
