PRIMARY SCHOOL

The school aims

Children are entitled to high quality, well-planned teaching, and at St Paul's School we are all committed to providing a stimulating learning environment which encourages effective teaching and learning. This is provided within the context of the Christian ethos of the school, where the value of each person is recognised and where self-esteem is promoted. We help each child to become a confident, self-disciplined, responsible member of the community and promote a code of behaviour which is based on respect for others and on taking responsibility for one's own actions. This code of behaviour is consistently applied to anyone concerned with the life of the school.

The staff and governors recognise the importance of providing an environment in which children learn:

  • to develop the skills required to work co-operatively and independently;
  • to develop as autonomous learners.

    At St Paul's we provide a broad, relevant, challenging and practical curriculum with equal opportunities for each child to realise her/his full potential. We provide opportunities for all children to enjoy learning by:

  • enabling them to use language effectively and with enjoyment in reading, writing and speaking;
  • giving the child a thorough basis of mathematical and scientific understanding to help her/him cope with the rapidly changing world;
  • enabling the child to develop a systematic and logical approach to solving problems;
  • teaching the skills which will enable the child to become an independent learner able to acquire information from a variety of sources available both inside and outside school;
  • giving them the skills to communicate and express themselves creatively in as many fields as possible;
  • enabling them to acquire an understanding of historical and geographical aspects of the local environment and the wider world.
