Pupils will spend 2 hours daily following both the Literacy and Numeracy strategies. These sessions are quite formal and structured with a focus on whole class teaching. Follow up activities consolidate the main teaching points. The remainder of the curriculum is taught as either separate subjects or integrated into a topic approach.

At the beginning of each term, you will receive a chart showing the main study areas that your child will be following. If you have any expertise or knowledge you would be willing to share with us, please let us know. We also put a high emphasis on children's personal, social and health education and we run a structured programme in this area designed to build each child's self esteem and awareness of their responsibilities to themselves and others.
| Special Needs
We aim to meet the needs of all our pupils, identifying quickly any of those who may have special needs. This could include children who need extra support in basic literacy, maths, speech and language or who are very able. All children who are identified as having special needs will have a carefully planned individual learning programme and their progress will be continually monitored. We follow the staged model of special needs assessment and provision which will sometimes involve professionals from outside agencies such as the Educational Psychologist.
Parents will always be kept fully informed and involved in any decisions about their child. Every effort will be made to accommodate children with special needs. Please contact the Head Teacher should you need more information about special needs. |
