Welcome to Broadbent Fold Primary School

About us

Broadbent Fold is a school that opens doors. From the very beginning in the Foundation Stage, right through until children leave us for high school, we provide children with unforgettable experiences that open doors to the wider world, leaving them itching to know more and eager to learn, inspiring them to achieve great things.

At Broadbent Fold we provide a safe, secure, sustainable environment, in which children are encouraged to take risks in their learning and where mistakes and errors are not seen as stumbling blocks, but as vital stepping stones to unlocking success. Children are encouraged by our Eco Council to take an interest in the natural world, to be pro-active in protecting the environment and to understand the effect of our daily lives on world around them.

Central to our success and the key to everything we do at Broadbent Fold is our code of conduct:

  • Respect others
  • Be considerate
  • Move safely
  • Be positive
  • Choose wisely

A series of principles, devised by staff and children to enable everyone at Broadbent Fold to work together in a harmonious atmosphere, which is encapsulated in our democratically adopted Golden Rule:

Treat others the way you want to be treated

FROM THE HEADTEACHER

A very warm welcome to Broadbent Fold!  We hope that our new website will give first-time visitors a real flavour of the atmosphere at Broadbent Fold, as well as providing parents and other visitors with lots of useful information about school events, policies and day to day life.

Broadbent Fold is a school that opens doors.   From the very beginning in the Foundation Stage, right through until children leave us for high school, we provide children with unforgettable experiences that open doors to the wider world, leaving them itching to know more and eager to learn, inspiring them to achieve great things.

Visitors be aware…the code of conduct applies to everyone in school!

The journey that we take our children on at Broadbent Fold is not one that we expect them to take alone.  Oh no, this is a real family affair!  Parents and families are encouraged to accompany their children on their journey of learning from the beginning, giving as much as support as they can, to enable their children to reach their destination in confidence and in good time!  We help parents to do this through our ‘open door’ policy.   In fact, special settling in times are provided before the start of the school day in Foundation Stage and Key Stage One to encourage parents to find out what their child is up to each day.  There are of course more formal times throughout the year when parents and teachers come together to discuss each child’s progress.  There are also many ways that parents can become involved in the life of the school, including an thriving PTFA (see their own events page!), as parent governors, good work assemblies, performances, trips and helping in class…even cheerleading practice!

Countless visitors commend the school for its traditional values, its friendly teachers, its family approach, its care for the children and its new Foundation Stage building.  But Broadbent Fold is much more than that, Broadbent Fold is bigger than the building and more than the sum total of its teaching staff.   Of course we care about our children, but more than that, we are all committed to ensuring that each individual fulfils their potential and gets the most out of their education, whilst in our care.   There is a tangible drive to improve and real commitment to quality…in the words of Bananarama…

“It ain’t want you do it’s the way that you do it…that’s what gets results!”

Many thanks for visiting our website, I hope you enjoy browsing and finding out more about Broadbent Fold, come back soon; this really is a work in progress!  And if you like what you see and read…you could always come and visit for yourself!  I look forward to welcoming you.

PTFA

The PTFA organises a number of events over the course of the school year. Discos are arranged at different times to interest and involve children and their parents. There is an annual Gala Day, usually in July, which is always well attended and is greatly enjoyed by parents, staff, children and the wider community. This is the main fund raising activity of the year and generates the largest proportion of funding the PTFA donates to the school.

Christmas activities are also useful in bringing the school community together and raising funding for school.

Lunch with Santa is always very popular as is the Christmas Disco and many parents support the PTFA by purchasing Christmas gifts from the Webb Ivory catalogue. If you would like to become an active member of our PTFA, please contact school and tell us of your interest.

PTFA Announcement

Many thanks to all of those who attended the Summer Gala Day on Saturday 14th July and made it such a huge success.  It was so good to see the whole school coming together as a community.

The Gala Day was opened by a former pupil Cllr Dave Sweeton and included fun activities like Soaking Sponges, Penalty Shoot Out, Lucky Dip and a Bouncy Castle.  There was a wide array of stalls, including toy stall cakes, lucky letters, tombolas and who could forget the delicious barbecue?

The day could not have taken place without the hard work and preparation of the members of the PTFA, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all go so smoothly.

The total amount raised has not yet been finalised but will be in the region of £1,400!! A magnificent achievement!  Well Done to everyone who took part!
