Welcome to Godley Primary School

Godley Community Primary School is situated on a split level site in a beautiful woodland setting with extensive grounds incorporating two playgrounds and grassy areas. We also have a sports field just outside the perimeter, reached by a footpath, a couple of minutes walk. The current building was built in 1978 as an open plan school but has since had alterations and remodelling to meet the modern demands of teaching and learning. There is a brand new Nursery (opening September 2004) a thriving breakfast and after school club, and a proactive Parent Staff Association.

  • There is an ICT room that contains a network of computers and a separate library for each Key Stage, where a friendly atmosphere is created welcoming even the youngest of early readers.
  • We are proud to have served the community of Godley for many years and believe firmly in strengthening those links Many parents attended the school and indeed some grandparents have been pupils.
  • A particular feature of Godley is the extent of its hard play areas, sports fields and natural surroundings.

Godley School has a long tradition of working in partnership with our parents. There is a detailed policy for teaching and learning in our school. As part of this policy, we invite all parents to sign the Home School Agreement as a commitment to the work we do together for our children. For pupils to achieve success it is important that parents, guardians, pupils and staff are able to work together with each party having equally important roles and responsibilities in the partnership.

here is an active association that plans social functions and fundraising activities throughout the year. Every parent is welcome to attend the meetings and offers of help are always gratefully received.

New officers of the PTA were appointed at a meeting on 17.01.07: -

A new inovation introduced by Tameside is the Virtual Learning Environment. A VLE is accessed using a standard browse, it is therefore available from anywhere that has a internet connection e.g.

  • Schools intranet.
  • Learning centres and libraries.
  • students home.
  • Anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

This provides students with a significantly greater flexibility in learning.

You may ask what is a Virtual Learning Environment?

  • Very simply it is a web site that is interactive and provides a communication gateway between home and school for teachers pupils and parents.
  • Parents can monitor their childs progress and participate in their learning.
  • Offers a different communication dimension through email, discussion groups and secure chat rooms.
  • Flexibility of anytime anywhere access to resources, work etc for students and teachers.
  • It is very secure as it is accessed by a password.
