Welcome to High Legh Primary School
About us
High Legh is a successful village primary school catering to children between the ages of 4 and 11 years of age. We are situated in the rural Borough of Macclesfield, 8 miles South East of Warrington, near to the village of Lymm and the market towns of Knutsford and Altrincham. The school is close to Manchester Airport, which is about 15 minutes drive away, and the M6 and M56 motorways, which are within two miles.
To achieve our vision we aim to provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment by:
- Warmly welcoming children into school and classes each day
- Accentuating the positive at all times
- Providing children with the opportunity to talk
- Listening to what children have to say
- Displaying and celebrating the work and achievements of all children
- Utilising both the immediate school environment and the wider environment to stimulate and aid teaching and learning.
We aim to raise standards by:
- Striving to meet the individual needs of all children
- Having high expectations of behaviour and attainment for all
- Providing a broad, balanced, challenging and fun-filled curriculum
- Providing high quality teaching using a variety of teaching and learning styles and strategies
- Setting appropriate targets and monitoring and assessing children’s progress
- Sharing expertise throughout the school and wider community.
We aim to develop children’s self-respect and respect for others by:
- Accentuating the positive at all times
- Ensuring that all children are treated and valued equally regardless of background, gender, culture or belief
- Encouraging children to respond positively to the diversity of modern society.
We aim to develop children’s independence and ability to think by:
- Encouraging children to question
- Providing opportunities for children to discuss issues rationally
- Providing opportunities for children to work and act independently
- Providing opportunities for children to work collaboratively and co-operatively with their peers
- Involving children in decision-making processes within school.
We aim to help children recognise their roles and responsibilities by:
- Involving children in the drawing up of class and whole school rules
- Involving the elected School Council in the decision making process
- Encouraging children to consider their impact upon the school, local and wider environment.
