Welcome to Lowton West Primary School


About us

Lowton West Primary School caters for children aged from 4 to 11 years of age. The majority of children attending the school come from the Lowton and Golborne areas.The school is significantly bigger than other primary schools. We currently have 408 pupils on roll, compared to a national average of around 240 pupils. Attainment for children aged 7 and 11 at our school exceeds the national average in all core subjects.

Our Aims

To:
  • deliver a broad and balanced curriculum covering a wide range of skills, knowledge and understanding.
  • enable the children to realise their highest achievements.
  • provide for each child's intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual development.
  • promote and encourage equal and challenging opportunities for each child within a safe,

  • ensure that the curriculum takes account of the needs of children with differing abilities.

At Lowton West we strive to provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which the children are cared for, will be successful, will gain in self-confidence and will demonstrate a respect for other people and the community.

The Staff, by working together as a team, will provide a broad and balanced curriculum which motivates, challenges and meets the needs of every child.

The Staff and Governors are committed to raising the standards of achievement for all children on behalf of their parents, their community and the Wigan Education Authority.

PE Kit

Drawstring bag containing - White T-shirt, shorts and pumps.

In Key Stage 2 the children do games once a week, weather permitting.  It is advisable to equip your child with warm clothing eg. track suit and a second pair of pumps or lightweight trainers.  At certain times of the year football boots may be required but the class teacher will advise you if this is necessary.
