PRIMARY SCHOOL

The school was built as a primary school then split as separate infant and junior schools on two different sites in the 1970's. The two schools were amalgamated in 1989 on the present site and as a result of the amalgamation the school was refurbished and re-equipped to provide the superb facilities which we now enjoy.

A talented and experienced staff provides a varied education of quality for all children.

We are concerned that pupils should be happy and productive, achieving their full potential during the time they are involved in this very important stage of their education.

Mansfield was built in 1963 and is firmly established in the community.

The Millennium brings with it many initiatives and changes in education and at Mansfield we endeavour to combine the best of traditional values with a forward-looking approach within a balanced curriculum where development of skills is key.

We believe in positive partnerships, and to this end seek parental involvement and co-operation in helping the children to achieve the success they deserve.

The Curriculum:

Every child is given the opportunity to achieve her/his full potential through a curriculum which meets the needs of all children from the least able to the gifted.

M.L.D. Unit (Key Stage Two):

Our school has a special unit for 12 children with Moderate Learning Difficulties. The teacher and support colleagues ensure that the needs of these (statemented) children are met through appropriately prepared lessons and a carefully constructed integration programme.

CLUBS

There are football and netball clubs which have regular weekly training sessions, depending on the term. Top infants and all juniors are offered after school gymnastics sessions working for a national award scheme. A national athletics award scheme is offered in the Summer Term. All children in Key Stage Two have a full term of swimming lessons and work for national awards. All three award schemes have led children to achieve very high standards.
