At Pinfold Primary School we pride ourselves in providing opportunities for all our pupils to achieve their full potential educationally, emotionally and socially. All of our staff will work hard to promote talent and engage pupils in activities that develop self-esteem, confidence and a positive outlook.

At Pinfold, if children are safe, secure, happy and not afraid to make mistakes they will learn well. If children learn to treat others with respect, consideration and kindness we shall have succeeded in preparing them to become responsible citizens of the future.

We are open and approachable as a school. We will always strive to do our best for all children. We will try to make each child’s primary school experience a time they will remember and treasure for the rest of their lives. Because we are human this will not always be easy or perfect – our duty is to serve children and parents. If you would like to see us in action, call in anytime.

Curriculum

In the Early Years, our teaching is defined by the Early Learning Goals, these form a firm foundation to the National Curriculum and prepare children for school, not only educationally, but also physically, socially and emotionally.

In Key Stage One and Two the National Curriculum requires that we teach the core subjects of English, Maths, Science and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), as well as the foundation subjects of Art, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Music and PE. We are also required to teach Religious Education and deliver daily Collective Worship, which is broadly Christian in character.

In addition to this, we are pleased to offer the children lessons in Introductory French, in their final year in school. We encourage our children to develop their individual abilities in as many ways as possible, by offering a broad and varied curriculum and a variety of teaching and learning styles. We make good use of specialist teaching, particularly in the foundation subjects, to ensure the quality of our provision.

Clubs

At Pinfold we aim to provide a wide range of After School Clubs and learning activities. The activities we provide offer a variety of experiences that are not always possible within the constraints of the school day and the National Curriculum.

The activities that we provide are focused on the Arts, Sport and ICT and are intended to enrich the curriculum and develop motivation and self-confidence in all the participants.

The clubs take place for an hour at the end of the day and are run by staff on a voluntary basis or by specialist coaches and outside agencies. All activities take place on the school premises, unless specialist facilities are required, in which case appropriate transport will be provided.

Parental consent is always sought before allowing children to attend clubs. In the interests of safety we ask that parents ensure that children are collected promptly at 4pm.

Some of our activities are intended to promote Family Learning, where we are pleased to invite parents to participate alongside their child.

ECO

Click here to view We have been an Eco school for about three years and during that time we have made a big improvement to our school through children taking an active part in making Pinfold more environmentally friendly. We have achieved both the Bronze and Silver Eco Award. Here are just a few of the projects and initiatives we have carried out to achieve this status.

I hope this gives you some idea of the things going on at our school as part of our Eco School status.
