Welcome !!!

Pott Shrigley Church School is a small rural school near Macclesfield in Cheshire. The school has a long history, as it was originally founded in 1492 and celebrated its 500th anniversary in 1992. The village of Pott Shrigley has enjoyed uninterrupted education since the 15th century. The school is growing in number with 48 children currently on roll. We aim to provide a high quality and enjoyable education experience for all our children.

Our Mission Statement

Our main aim is to provide quality experiences in all aspects of school life so enabling the children to be happy, successful and keen to learn. We aim to do this in the context of a warm and welcoming Christian ethos so that our children will develop strong Christian values. We aim to provide a rich and balanced curriculum, encouraging every child to acquire the experience, skills, knowledge and understanding necessary for development towards a full place in adult society.

Staff

Staffing levels are high with 3 full time teachers for 48 children. We also employ 4 teaching assistants and a part-time special needs teacher. We use visiting teachers to teach Spanish, Drama and Athletics, and coaches in cricket, football and tag rugby also visit the school regularly. The older children also have the chance to learn a musical instrument in partnership with Poynton High School.

School Organisation

Pott Shrigley Church School is a small rural school with a maximum of 42 children who come from a wide area (see Admission Policy). The pupils are aged 4 - 11 years and are divided into one class for each of the two Key Stages. Class sizes are small and this enables the children to benefit from greater individual attention from staff.

The school also employs a special needs teacher for four hours per week and the Y2-Y6 children benefit from specialist teaching of modern foreign languages.

THE AIMS OF THE SCHOOL

Our main aim is to provide quality experiences in all aspects of school life

so enabling the children to be happy, successful and keen to learn, thus

helping them to grow into young people who are fulfilled and able to

make a positive contribution to society.

We aim to do this in the context of a warm and welcoming Christian

ethos so that our children will develop strong Christian values.

We believe that children should develop a co-operative way of being and

working together, that their self-respect leads to a respect for the rights

and needs of other children and adults from their own culture and other

cultures and for the opposite gender.

We are aiming to educate the whole child by presenting a total

experience which is right and relevant to his/her individuality, thus

fostering the child’s intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual

development.

We aim to identify and meet the educational needs of every child, taking

into account the National Curriculum requirements and the changing

nature of society within an environment that encourages enjoyment and

pride in learning.

We aim to provide a rich and balanced curriculum, encouraging every

child to acquire the experience, skills, knowledge and understanding

necessary for development towards a full place in adult society.

We recognise that change and progress are important parts of everyday

life and therefore aim to equip children to cope and flourish in dealing

with the challenges faced by such changes.

We aim to encourage parents, governors and others to take an interest

and actively participate in the work of the school.
