Prospect Vale is a co-educational primary school with approximately 240 pupils, with an additional 40 part-time pupils in the nursery. The school was built in 1963 and is set in attractive grounds with extensive playing fields and playgrounds for sporting and leisure activities.
In recent years the school has undergone refurbishment including sound insulation, double glazing, new ventilation and lighting systems, carpeting throughout, a new staff workroom, computer suite linked to various parts of the school, additional car park and a new teaching area extension.
The pupil intake is from a large area and comprises of approximately 18%for whom Engish is an additional language and 10% of pupils are entitled to a free school meal. Generally, pupils leave Prospect Vale and go onto The Kingsway School.
Some pupils take entrance examinations and attend a variety of secondary schools in the private sector.
The school has received two successful Ofsted inspection reports in recent years with the second inspection taking place in December 1999. Currently, the school performs well when compared to all schools on a national basis and especially so when compared to similar schools nationally in regard to SATs results.
