Welcome to St Ambrose Catholic Primary School

Hello!!!

Our Vision and Mission Statements tell you what we are about. We want the very best for everyone in our school its community.

Vision Statement

Those at St. Ambrose School will grow in the love and service of Jesus. Anyone who passes through our doors will feel the richness and fullness of Christian life.

Mission Statement

This Mission Statement is for everyone in the St. Ambrose community and is the foundation of the school's purpose. St. Ambrose School is here to provide a quality Catholic education.

  • We are part of St. Ambrose Parish community.
  • We work in partnership with the home and parish.
  • We help every person here to achieve their best in work and play.
  • As children of God we value and respect each other.
  • We celebrate whatever is good.
  • We say sorry, support and forgive each other as Jesus showed us.
  • We get ready for and share the Sacraments as a family.
  • In our lives, through the love of Christ, we hope to serve others for the glory of God.
  • We welcome and support those in need and work to create a place where they can strive.

Rewards and Discipline

Good behaviour is rewarded by our merit scheme, celebrated at our 'Special Mention Assembly' every Friday morning and re-enforced daily with praise and encouragement.

We foster high self-esteem through Golden Time and this, along with the Golden Rules and Circle Time encourages the children respect themselves and each other.

We rely very much on working in partnership with parents in these matters and encourage the sharing of any concerns or 'good news'.

Along with any reward system there must be sanctions. We feel that children need to understand the boundaries and must be aware of the consequences of their actions.

Special Educational Needs

We look after the needs of all our children. We identify children with special needs as soon as possible in order to give them the best opportunity to develop to their potential. By setting work matched to a child's ability many difficulties can be overcome.

Parents are involved from the outset of any special needs programme and regular contact is made throughout its duration.

If extra support is needed help is given by the ‘Learning Support Service’. Should the need arise, a Statement of Special Educational Need is sought, to ensure the child is supported appropriately in school and by Stockport Education Authority.
