Welcome !!!

St. Bernard's R.C. Primary School is an established school opened in 1971 to serve the parish of St. Bernard. It is a one form entry school able to accommodate 210 children. The school population in September 2000 will be 208. As there are seven classes in school this means each class will average 30 pupils per class.

St. Bernard's School is a living Christian community. It's strengths are based on the relationships that exist within the school, between the school and parish and between school and parents.

Mission Statement

Inspired by the Gospel and the Churches faith in Jesus Christ we shall strive to develop and to celebrate the full potential of each individual in our school. By fostering respect for ourselves and for each other we hope to encourage the whole school community to live according to the teachings of the Gospel especially the command of Jesus: " LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU."

Our school actively encourages sport at all ages. In the Junior department every child will be    offered the opportunity to take part in at least four different sports in games lessons each   academic year. The school also has football, netball, tag-rugby, athletics, cross-country and swimming teams who frequently participate in local competitions and tournaments. Swimming is also offered for one term to all pupils in Yrs 4, 5 and 6 for one term.
