About Our School

We are located at the top of Demesne Drive on the edge of the local moorland. Our school was opened in 1977 and comprises of one single-storey building, which is of open plan design. Wild Bank has extensive well-maintained grounds with separate infant and junior playgrounds, butterfly garden and wooded area with woodland walk.

The main building houses three Key Stage 2 classes and a Key Stage 1 class, a multipurpose hall, a library and an excellent computer suite. Our Foundation Unit is situated in a separate building consisting of the nursery and reception children with 4 members of staff.

The teaching staff is at present: Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, 5 full-time teachers, 1 nursery nurse, a special support assistant, a learning mentor and 5 classroom assistants.

To see examples of good work follow the appropriate link from the class newsletter pages.

Foundation Stage Play Area

As you may have seen, work has started over the summer break on the larger play area for the Foundation Stage. Due to delivery difficulties of some materials the work is not as far along as was hoped. It will restart on Monday and it is hoped that this will be finished by the end of this month. This means that to gain access to Mrs Crabtree’s class area, parents will have to walk around the building. I apologise for any inconvenience caused, but I am sure that the final result will be worth it.

Uniform

It is great to see so many children looking so smart in their school uniforms and new school shoes. If you have ordered new school uniform it is now available for collection, every day between 9.00 am and midday and we have a small supply of extra items for those of you who have not ordered, but find that you need to replace some items. Please see Mrs Martin for all your uniform requirements.

When you have collected your uniform please make sure that each item is marked with your child’s name to avoid any confusion. Please could you also make sure that your child wears shoes in school. Trainers can be brought from home and changed into for playtimes if you wish.

Attendance and the Limousine Trip

It is very important that your child attends school on time every day. Registration is at 8.55 am and lessons start promptly at 9.00 am. If your child is going to be late due to unavoidable circumstances, or if your child is poorly, school must be informed before 9.00 am on the first morning of absence. As you know school rewards those children with good attendance with a limousine trip each year in July. It is very important that these rules are followed for your child to qualify for the trip and to make it fair for everybody, there will be no exceptions to these rules. Please also remember that if your child takes a holiday in term time this will automatically disqualify them from the trip.
