Beverley School

Beverley School is now a Specialist Technology School for pupils with Autism. This important milestone was confirmed by the Secretary of State for Education in an announcement on Thursday 1st of February 2007. Beverley School is a Middlesbrough Council Day Special School with places for 103 pupils with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), age range 3 -19. The pupils come from Middlesbrough itself and from neighbouring LEAs. We also provide specialist advice to support children with ASD in local mainstream schools.

Friends of Beverley School (FOBS)

All parents, carers and staff are members of FOBS. We raise money to help fund activities such as Summer Playscheme, horse riding, residential visits, Christmas party, Discos, and other special projects that cannot normally be funded from the school's own resources.

We also run a support group for families of children with Autism.

The support group meetings are held in the MAIN Project building on the Beverley School site, and we welcome parents and carers of any children with autistic spectrum disorders, whether the attend Beverley or other schools. Phone Beverley School or The MAIN Project for dates of our meetings.

Mrs Dorothy Fraser is the Fundraising Coordinator for FOBS. Dorothy, who has triplet sons at Beverley School, has secured grants from charitable organisations for lots of important projects to benefit all our pupils. These include playground equipment for the primary age pupils, sensory room, soft play facilities, trim trail for secondary students and a sensory garden.

We've also had valuable support from other families, school staff and the local community. The success of FOBS sums up what Beverley School is all about - knowing what is best for our children and working hard to make it happen.
