Welcome to Roseberry Infant School. We hope that you enjoy browsing through our website which has hundreds of photos of our school for you to look at, as well as documents to provide information.

Visit our friendly school and you will find useful information boards in both the East and West wing, as well as the nursery for parents and children to find out what's going on. There is also a School Achievements board in the school hall which will keep you up-to-date with awards and monitors, and details of our fundraising efforts.

Mission Statement

We aim high at Roseberry Infant School
We aim to ensure that each child reaches maximum potential.
We aim to provide a happy, stable and purposeful environment.
We aim to ensure that each child develops awareness, respect and appreciation of themselves as a unique individual.
We aim to develop in children an awareness of the needs of others and respect for them.
We aim to ensure that each child develops awareness and respect for other cultures.
We aim to share our plans, procedures and aims with parents and with our community.
We aim to work with them for the benefit of our children.
We aim to ensure a happy confident transfer of children to the Junior school.
We believe that this, the first introduction children have to education is vitally important as it develops attitudes and behaviour that last throughout life.
We aim above all else to develop positive attitudes, a sense of responsibility and high self esteem.

Curriculum

Here at Roseberry Infant School we provide a good, broad and balanced curriculum following the New National Curriculum which was introduced September 2000.
Here at Roseberry Infant School we teach Core-curriculum subjects in:

English
Mathematics
Science
Information Technology
Religious Education

Foundation subjects:-
Art
PE

Geography
Design Technology

We teach a full literacy hour and numeracy lesson each day.

Teaching organisation in classrooms varies according to the particular activities. This ranges from individual tuition, to group work and whole class activities depending upon specific needs of the children and the planned activity. Some setting according to ability also takes place. Class sizes vary depending on the intake, as does the need to teach mixed age groups.

The teaching of ICT takes place in our ICT suite.

The hours spent on teaching children aged 5 - 7 years during a normal school week are 21 hours minimum. This time includes Religious Education but excludes the statutory act of collective worship, registration time, lunch and play time.

All children from Reception to Year 2 are taught all of the core and foundation subjects

All children are encouraged to work to their maximum ability. If a child has particular abilities these are encouraged and developed through the school and classroom provision.

We also encourage through the delivery of the National Curriculum education in personal relationships, drugs education, community responsibility, social and health education and equal opportunities.
