Saint Catherine's College is a maintained Catholic all-ability school catering for the 11-18 age group and is associated with the international group of schools served by the Society of the Sacred Heart.

An Sruth Gaeilge, which is an integral part of Saint Catherine's College, provides quality Irish Medium education for those who wish to build on the Irish Language competences acquired in the Bunscoileanna.

DISCIPLINE

It is the school policy that discipline should be based on mutual respect for and between students and staff members.

Good discipline practices create the conditions for effective learning. Teachers consistently encourage high standards of behaviour.

The school is a 'pupil centred' school and works to ensure that the quality of relationships between teachers and pupils is excellent. A Classroom Code poster is in every classroom and, in partnership, pupils and teachers endeavour to create an environment where constructive learning takes place.

PASTORAL CARE

Saint Catherine's College pursues the aim of a Catholic Education in developing the intellectual, spiritual, moral, aesthetic and physical capacity of each student. The Pastoral Care System aims to develop a school ethos in which pupils feel secure and know that they are valued and respected as individuals.

There is a strong sense of community in the school allowing pupils to feel that they belong and in turn become understanding, sympathetic and sensitive to the needs of others. Pupils engage in shared educational and social activities with young people from other schools and cultures and this allows pupils the opportunity to help and support others in the local community and further afield.

Millennium Mission Statement

Saint Catherine’s College Millennium Mission Statement summarises our renewed commitment to provide excellence of educational provision for an ever changing society through:

Commitment to providing a sound, balanced, Catholic education which promotes the all-round development of each individual pupil;

Ensuring the attainment of the highest possible academic standards;

Preparing our young people for independent thought and adult life;

Maintaining and developing links with the local and national community;

Contributing to the social, economic and cultural life of the community.

AIMS

Saint Catherine’s College Pastoral Policy aims:

A.2.1 To ensure that each pupil is valued, cared for and respected in a welcoming and secure community.

A.2.2 To implement policies and practices which further the development of self discipline and enable pupils to take progressive responsibility for their own lives and actions, coping with possible threats to their personal safety and enabling them to meet with confidence the demands and challenges of adult and working life.

A.2.3 To encourage all pupils to know themselves, acknowledge and use their talents, accept their limitations and share their talents with others.

A.2.4 To develop a curriculum which engages pupils in shared educational and social activities with young people from other schools and cultures and which develops leadership in a spirit of service.

A.2.5 To promote a strong sense of community allowing each pupil to feel that they belong and in turn become understanding, sympathetic and sensitive to the needs of others.
