The Nursery
The Nursery Unit in Kilcooley Primary School was opened in 1998 and is situated within the infant wing, with its own separate entrance.
This purpose built Unit has a main playroom with adjoining reception area, quiet room, utility room, staff room, toilet area and separate play room for group play.
There is an enclosed outdoor play area specifically landscaped for young children, with a wide range of facilities and play equipment.
The Unit is staffed by a full- time teacher and assistant, fully qualified and experienced in Nursery Education, and can accommodate 26 full-time children. Sessions will operate from 8.50 am - 1.45 pm. |
By working closely in partnership with parents the unit aims to provide a stimulating, secure and happy environment where children's individual development is paramount. The staff works harmoniously to plan activities and experiences, which encourage personal, social, emotional, physical, creative, aesthetic and language development.
Parents are welcome at all times and are encouraged to come into the play room at the beginning and end of each session. This provides for the sharing of learning experiences, which have taken, place in school and at home.
The Unit is an integral part of the Primary school and the children will gradually familiarise themselves with the wider school environment. It is hoped that the children will continue their education in Kilcooley Primary School. |
