SCHOOL CURRICULUM
The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum within the framework of the Foundation Stage early learning goals (further details of which can be seen in our Early Years Brochure available on request) and National Curriculum attainment targets. The National Curriculum subjects taught in the school are:-
English (speaking & listening, reading, writing, spelling, handwriting) Mathematics Science Design and Technology Information and Communication Technology History Geography Music Art and Design Physical Education Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education Religious Education
Each child follows a set of learning activities in line with the National Curriculum guidelines and their own individual ability.
Whilst the National Curriculum is taught throughout the school, the subjects may or may not be taught as separate items. A topic such as 'Ourselves' or 'Pattern' will link together aspects of Mathematics, English, Art, Science, Geography and Technology.
Children are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of the school and the community. This is approached through Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education (PSHCE). PSHCE helps to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible citizens. A new element of this is SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) which is delivered throughout the school with home activities.
