I am aware from many parents and members of the public that there is a widespread perception in the Roe Valley and wider area that our school is making very rapid progress on many different fronts.

It is right that a community like ours should be proud of its local High School and support it. I am, of course, very pleased about this, however the proof of the pudding is always in the eating. It is not difficult these days for schools to project an image – we see it being done all the time by advertisers, even governments. If, as I believe, we really are making a difference and creating new expectations, opportunities and improved results for all students, we would like the chance to explain these to you and give you a real ‘feel’ for our school community.

Please take the opportunity to browse our website or arrange a visit to experience something of the unique flavour of our school. We are a very modern, creative, cutting edge educational establishment, and a place where the old values of courtesy, respect and care for each other are consciously safeguarded and nurtured.

We have a lot going for us and I hope that, together with community support and commitment matching ours, we can provide a strong base and a wide range of opportunities for our children. A major strength of education in this area is the quality and width of provision offered in partnership with other schools and Limavady College in the town and further afield.

To find out more about Limavady High School please look around this site and contact us should you require any further information.

Headmaster
S. G. REILLY

Limavady High School is a controlled, co-educational school which offers a comprehensive education to all children living in Limavady and the surrounding area. It is staffed to deal efficiently with all ability levels, ranging from those who are potential A, A/S, AVCE candidates to those who require special help in the basic subjects. The school has an expertly staffed unit for pupils who experience hearing impairment.

Opened in 1961, the school occupied the buildings in Irish Green Street formerly used by Limavady Grammar School, adapted for our use and augmented. These premises have either been completely refurbished or replaced and now provide some of the most modern and best equipped teaching areas in any school in Northern Ireland. In September 2001 the former Dungiven High School was absorbed into Limavady High School.

The governors of the school are particularly proud and supportive of our well developed pastoral system; its main purpose is to help and support young people as they mature. We encourage high standards of discipline and personal behaviour. The school also prides itself in its academic record, community involvement and sporting achievement.

Limavady High School provides a full range of learning activities, within and beyond the Northern Ireland Curriculum and has adjusted well to meet the rapid changes which are taking place in education.

The governors and teachers of the school believe that success in education relies heavily on a good working relationship between parents and the school and between teachers and pupils. They are committed to ensuring that what pupils learn should prepare them for lifetime learning, and the world of work and leisure.

Limavady High School serves a wide catchment area and we hope that many new parents will choose to send their children here. Hopefully this web site will prove informative and useful and will encourage parents to seek further information about our school. The governors, headmaster and staff are available, at all times, to answer your enquiries.
