About Us.

Flash is the highest village in Britain at 1518 feet. On a clear day the views from the school are breathtaking.

The school was originally sited in the building next to the inn. John Bourne of Newcastle established this school in 1760. However, in 1820 Sir George Crewe and Joseph Tunnicliffe Esq. of Macclesfield, established a new school for thirty scholars.

The present school was built in 1873 and extended in 1895 by Sir Vauncey Harpur Crewe. It was a national school and could hold 120 children, although the average attendance was 36.

Today, Flash Primary School is a Church of England, controlled, co-educational day school administered by Staffordshire County Council Education Committee. It caters for children between the ages of four and eleven.

The school is divided into two classrooms, which are comfortably furnished and very well resourced.

Outside there is a play area that includes a wooden climbing structure, with a safety surface and an activity area with sunken tyres arranged for imaginative play. Our school playing field, pond and wild life area are situated below the playground.

The village hall provides us with a large space for certain activities and is a venue for school productions and social events.

'Pupils demonstrate a clear sense of personal responsibility and a considerate friendly attitude to others across the school.' Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools. June 2006.

Mission Statement

Flash School is an inclusive, happy and caring Church of England Primary School where education is based on Christian principles and teachings. We believe that all children are entitled to an outstanding education which is distinctive and creative, allowing them to reach their unique potential and which prepares them for life and their place in society.

Flash Church of England (VC) Primary School

AIMS:

·                   To remember that we are a Church of England Primary School and to keep the Christian principles and teaching of Christ at the           forefront of all we do.

  ·                   To nurture a life-long love of learning, not only in the children but also in the community as a whole.

  ·                   To provide a safe and happy learning environment, which has the full support of all parents and the community, and which fosters confident, enthusiastic children who want to learn.

  ·                  To encourage and support all children to reach their full potential.

   ·                   To provide a stimulating, exciting and structured environment which promotes learning through practical work, experimentation and creativity, stemming from first-hand experience wherever possible.

  ·                   To develop pupils self-motivation, acknowledging that different children learn in different ways and accepting, celebrating and embracing everyone’s individuality.

  ·                   To offer access to a wide range of facilities and experiences, both on and off site, within a well-planned, wide and varied curriculum.

  ·                   To develop pupils’ self-esteem through encouragement, praise and the giving of responsibility and by celebrating achievement in all areas.

  ·                   To take the best of new technologies, but not to be ruled by them.

  ·                   To offer each child a sense of identity and yet be responsive to the needs of a culturally diverse world.

  ·                  To develop staff skills so that we offer the best possible level of teaching and learning.

  ·                 To value the excellent links with the community and develop the existing partnership with our cluster and pyramid schools.
