The Aims of Our School

The Staff and Governors of Kirk Langley

CE (C) Primary School aim to provide a

atmosphere in a well organised and

stimulating environment where active learning and personal development can take place in order to enrich the lives of all our children and enable them to realise their full potential both now and in the future.

We learn not for school,

but for life.

Admission to School

Children born on or between 1st September and 30th April may begin full time education at the beginning of the Autumn term prior to their fifth birthday.

Children born on or between 1st May and 30th August may begin full time education at the beginning of the Spring term prior to their fifth birthday.

As a small school we can consider requests for children to begin school at the beginning of the Autumn term instead of the Spring term either part time or full time.

It is essential that parents of children who live in the local area confirm in writing that they have a preference for their child to attend their local school. This should be received by the end of the Spring Term for the following September.

Requests for the admission of pupils who live outside of the school’s local area will always be considered by the school governors taking into account the number of children on roll and the capacity of the building.

Parents of children who live outside the local area should apply in writing to the governors for a place. This should be done by the end of the Spring term of the calendar year in which their child is due to start school in the September.

We will be pleased to hear from parents in the area who have pre-school children so that we can invite them to visit us to look around our school, talk with our staff and become involved in some of our activities. We maintain close links with local play groups and nursery schools.

During the summer term in the year your child is due to start schooling, parents are invited to an evening meeting. At this meeting full details regarding admission, organisation and advice on preparation for school will be given. This is followed by an invitation to parents and their child to look round the school one afternoon after the school day. Your child will then have the opportunity to spend some time in school during the school day and join us for a school lunch. Parents are welcome to stay with their child on this visit if it is felt necessary.
