In the next three years our school will become:

a school for the community in which pupils, staff, children, parents and the local community contribute to the work going on in the school;

a school which provides a wide range of experiences so that children develop into caring individuals whilst making sure they achieve their potential and prepares them for life in secondary school and beyond;

Our Mission Statement can be summed up by our school motto:

Living, Laughing, Learning Together

Welcome to our school

“Pupils’ attainment is consistently well above

that found nationally……”

Ofsted, May 2003

Opportunity and achievement for all

Situated in a pleasant rural location, yet only fifteen minutes from both Derby and Ashbourne, Mugginton C E Primary School is

the ideal place for children to learn.

Promoting a warm and close-knit environment, the headteacher and staff develop strong ties with the pupils in order to nurture, encourage and motivate each individual child to achieve their best.

Benefiting from small class sizes, each pupil receives a high level of personal attention from the teachers, which enables them to

work at their own pace.

The school underwent a successful Ofsted inspection in May 2003, where the quality of teaching and pupils’ standards of behaviour were among some of the highlights of the report.

There is not enough space in this brochure to tell you everything about the school, but here are some more highlights………...

  • Consistently high achievement in SATs at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

  • A thriving parent and toddler group.

  • Well resourced classrooms including interactive whiteboards.

  • Our own kitchen on site where food is freshly cooked each day.

  • An active and effective Parent Teachers Association.

  • Regular and varied school trips.

  • A wide range of after-school clubs and activities.

  • Solid links with both the community and the church.

  • Well equipped IT suites in both the infant and junior classrooms.

  • Strong parental involvement in the day-to-day life of the school.

  • A high level of commitment to sporting activities, both during school time and at external events.

  • A safe and secure playground with games/sports equipment.

  • A dedicated and professional team of teachers and support staff.

  • All this and more in a small village school!

A message from the headteacher

“There has been a primary school in the village of Mugginton for over 150 years.

The reputation for high academic standards, a warm caring atmosphere and close involvement in the local community life continues today.

These qualities are supported through a broad and well balanced education to help prepare children for the many different challenges they will meet in the years ahead.

It is a happy and successful school, providing an educational environment designed to bring out the best in every child during their primary school years.

I am extremely proud of all we have achieved at Mugginton School, and look forward to even greater success in the future.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how, together, we can provide your child with the education they deserve.”

Thank you.

Mrs Geraldine Lowden
