Beechcroft St Paul's CE VA Primary School has a long history of change. The school has been on its present site since 1989. Prior to this it was in Cromwell Road and known as ‘Cromwell Road Infants School’. On moving to the new site the school was renamed ‘Beechcroft Community Infants School’.
As part of school re-organisation in the Weymouth area the school became a primary school with Church of England status in September 2003, hence Beechcroft St Paul's CE VA Primary School. The school has grown gradually from a small infant school to a full primary school, adding a new class each year by keeping its oldest pupils. September 2006 will see the first Year 6 class and therefore the completion of the transition to becoming a complete one-form entry (maximum of 30 pupils) school.

PREMISES AND EQUIPMENT
Beechcroft St Paul's CE VA Primary School is a purpose-built, modern, bright, single storey building, designed with children in mind. Furnishings and resources are carefully selected to enhance the learning opportunities for each child. The range of equipment and resources are of a high quality and support learning towards the Early Learning Goals and National Curriculum standards.
There is a planned extension which will see the completion of facilities to provide for a full primary school, including a purpose-built hall, library area, ICT/additional learning room and a small room for group and individual learning. The class bases enable children to participate in a wide range of activities and allow outdoor access where possible. Beechcroft St Paul's CE VA Primary School also offers facilities for the disabled.
Along with the development of the building, the school grounds are also being developed to ensure that the space available is used to its maximum potential. We aim to provide designated areas for play to cater for the interests and needs of all children while ensuring that our grounds provide appropriate opportunities for teaching the PE and Outdoor Education Curriculum.
PLANNING AND ORGANISATION
At Beechcroft St Paul's CE VA Primary School we follow the ‘Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage’ and the ‘National Curriculum’. The learning in each year group is carefully planned to build on existing knowledge and to develop learning further. A variety of stimulating topics and themes ensure interest and purpose for that learning.
Children may be taught as a whole class, in groups, pairs or as individuals. Extensive use is made of Information Communication Technology (ICT) PC’s being available in all classrooms. Each classroom has an Interactive Whiteboard. In addition there is a mobile set of laptop PC’s enabling a whole class to work together in pairs.
