Bournemouth School for Girls has won praise from Inspectors following their recent visit.
Inspectors noted 'the very good teaching and good leadership at all levels that enable pupils to achieve very well and develop into confident young adults.' They comment that 'staff are knowledgeable and supportive; they transfer their love of learning to the pupils and help them to achieve very well.'
Pupils at the school also come in for high praise, not only for 'their very high levels of determination to succeed' but also for their 'exemplary behaviour'.
The sixth form is described as 'highly effective'. ' Provision is very good in academic subjects and for students' personal development.'
Inspectors also comment: The Headteacher provides good leadership, a clear vision and has built a strong leadership team, committed to the continuing success of the school.'
Alistair Brien, Headteacher since January, commented on the report:
'I am delighted that Inspectors have confirmed what I already knew - BSG is a very good place to be.'
He was grateful also to Inspectors for again highlighting that 'accommodation and resources are unsatisfactory in several areas.'
' These comments underline just how important it is that we succeed in raising funds for our Passion for Learning appeal which will enable us to build a Creative Arts Centre. This will enable us to at least begin to deal with our pressing accommodation needs. We have just learnt that our fourth bid for central government funding for a new building has been turned down. We are more than ready for the challenge though and are grateful to parents, businesses and friends of the school who have already supported us in our fundraising efforts. Anyone who saw our wonderful production of 'Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat' last week will know how important it is that we have the right facilities and resources to support the enormous talent of our pupils.'
