Our warm and friendly school ensures that all children are valued as individuals, and encouraged to develop their full potential through a range of good quality educational experiences.
|Bovington First School is a school that caters for children from Reception up to Year 4.
School begins at 9:00am and finishes at 3:15, although many clubs and activities do continue after these times.
We are lucky to have The Three bears which offers pre-school education and JAKS afterschool care adjoining our school grounds and we have very strong links in order to provide for the needs of both children and parents.
In an ever changing world our vision is for:
our school to provide a warm and welcoming environment for children, staff, parents and the community, in which all are valued and are inspired to learn. We aim to be a school that has high expectations of its pupils and the adults who work here. Where there is high quality teaching and learning that is enjoyable, exciting and progressive, meeting the demands of the curriculum and challenging the individual child. We strive hard to be a school that equips children with the skills for their futures.
- To tailor the curriculum to individual needs and abilities
- To offer a wide range of learning experiences
- To inspire life long learning
- To develop a happy, caring and safe environment

Over the last five years Bovington First School has worked hard to improve the educational experiences offered to its children. These include providing a better environment to work in with a new library, kitchen area and a 20PC computer suite as well as networked computers and an interactive whiteboard in every classroom.
To support teaching and learning in all subjects, high quality resources have been purchased and continual training and development is provided for all Teaching and Support Staff.
Through the School Council and PHSE sessions our children are given a clear voice. Their views and ideas are respected and encouraged to make our school a place of safety, learning and fun.
Our School Council have been fully involved in fund raising for our new security fencing and gates, the adventure playground, new picnic benches and wider range of playground toys. Their list is long but their enthusiasm and ideas for events to raise money is greatly appreciated. Bovington First School belongs to The Bindon Abbey Cluster. We work closely with Bere Regis, Winfrith and Lulworth, and both schools in Wool to combine our resources to support the educational and social development of our children.
This year the focus has been on developing music, inspired by African drumming and Assessment for Learning.
We have also been involved in many inter-school sports competition including Football, netball, tag-rugby and Kwik cricket. All parents are automatically members of the Friends of Bovington 1st School (FOBS)which works hard to raise funds for school improvements and provide social events for the children, including discos, excursions and visitors. We welcome any additonal support and expertise that parents or friends can offer!
