We are currently having a re-build of about two thirds of our school. Once this project is complete we will be equipped with a primary school for the 21st century! To see how the work is progressing please click the link below.
Building Work Photos
On 17th September 2007 Mr John Paulley MBE laid the foundation stone for our new school. Mr Paulley has been a parent or governor of the school for the last 53 years and is the longest standing governor of the school.
Mr Paulley was joined by Jayne Hosford (Chairman of Governors), Graham Pitcher (Building Contractor), Neil Tarchetti (Headteacher) as well as the Chairman and Secretary of the School Council. The rest of the school, along with invited guests, watched as the stone was laid and the beginnings of the new school started to emerge from the ground. It was an exciting day for everyone!
PUT A BRICK IN THE WALL!
After laying the foundation stone of the new building at Durweston C of E Primary School at the start of September the building work is moving quickly. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) are offering the chance to have an engraved brick put into the new school. People with a past or present association with the school can ensure they have a permanent part in the history of the school.
The PTA are seeking to find as many past pupils, staff, governors or others with an interest. For £20 an individual or family can choose the commemorative message they would like to put on a brick and the bricks will then be placed in the external wall of the new school. All funds raised will go towards the PTA’s current project to re-design the exterior of the school once the building is completed. The committee have already raised £8000 towards the project which will provide new playground equipment, markings and environmental areas for the children to enjoy. They aim to raise another £12000 this year to make a total of £20000.
If you would like to find out more about placing a brick in the wall please contact the school office on 01258 452277 or office@durweston.dorset.sch.uk before the end of October.
Discounts are available for families or individuals who would like more than one brick
