On the following pages you will be able to find out more about the ethos and environment of our school, the people who lead, teach, support and govern St Andrew's Church of England Primary and the many special things about our educational establishment which led Ofsted, in March 2004, to praise the ' innovative curriculum and very good enrichment opportunities which have impacted strongly on pupils' very good creative development ' and the ' Good talented teaching and strong commitment of all staff, including teaching assistants, which have raised standards and ensured the very good attitudes of pupils, very good relationships, behaviour, and provision for special educational needs'

Football takes place in the Autumn and Spring terms and allows any child in Years 3 to 6 to enjoy playing and practising their skills. Our teams play regularly against other local schools.

Chess is played at lunchtimes throughout the year. All children from Yr 2 upwards are very welcome.

A weekly after school club for the juniors gives small groups opportunities to further develop skills learnt in class.

Netball is played in the Autumn and Spring terms. We are lucky to have a floodlit court for practice and matches.

Choir and Band

Many of our excellent musicians represent the school in our band and choirs. We really enjoy the fruits of their work at end of term services and on many other occasions.

Modern and country dancing is done at school and many of our school performances and assemblies are graced by wonderful dancers.

Our school environment is very important and the Gardening group help to keep it looking smart.

In computer club we have opportunities to use the camera, to produce displays and produce power point presentations.

Teaching year 6 to cook has its challenges but the end result is gorgeous. We have prepared and cooked pizzas, fairy cakes, jam and treacle tarts and fruit salad with "langues de chat" biscuits so far this term. A skill for life.

In running club we learn how to sprint, make good starts and build stamina with longer distances.

Country Dancing

Years 1 and 2 enjoy country dancing club every Monday. They learn lots of local folk dances!

Cricket Club

Cricket Club runs after school throughout the Summer term.

Cross Country Club

Our cross country club entered its first event in March - the Sherborne Area Cross Country event at the Gryphon School. One of our Year 6 pupils came first in the boys race and the girls did brilliantly too!
