Elgar Technology College is a LEA maintained 11-16 mixed community comprehensive school situated on a four hectare site in the northern sector of the historic cathedral city of Worcester.We work closely with our fourteen partner primary schools in the city that we serve, in order to produce a high standard of education from the age of 5 years and beyond.We seek to provide the kind of environment in which each child can develop his or her full potential.

At Elgar we see ourselves as a key part of the community that we serve. Our recent achievement of Extended School status has allowed us to develop plans to further develop the school within the community. Our aim is to contribute to the education and success of our entire community at every age and every level.

Our name reflects the fact that we have been designated by the Secretary of State for Education, to be a Technology College under the Government’s Specialist Schools Initiative.This means that we strive to be a centre for excellence in the areas of Science, Mathematics,Design Technology and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).Whilst we continue to offer a broad and balanced curriculum in all core and foundation subjects, the special emphasis on Technology sets us apart from other schools in the distinctive way in which we focus on these areas.We seek to respond to local need by encouraging more people to enter into further education or skilled jobs with training in these areas.

The buildings are well maintained and house the school’s excellent facilities. Art,Mathematics,Music, Design Technology, Humanities, Languages and English all have their own well-equipped specialist areas.There are nine well-equipped Science laboratories.There is excellent provision for Drama, Dance and Sport using the drama studio, gymnasium and our newly built sports hall.

Our school roll is expected to rise to 1100 students over the next four years.
