Welcome to our school. We hope that your association with us will be a long and happy one. This booklet is intended to answer many of the questions that you might have about us. We hope that it will give you a clearer picture of the school. There may be questions which have not been covered; if that is the case, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Whilst we have endeavoured to make sure that the booklet is as accurate as possible, some information may be subject to change, in the light of changing policies of the Government, or of Worcestershire County Council. The information on this website is always updated as soon as possible to take account of such changes.
The education of your child is dependent on a partnership between you and the school. We hope that you will maintain a close involvement with the school, so that your child derives the maximum benefit. We like to think of ourselves as part of a 'school family' and that each member of the family lives up to the responsibilities that this involves.
Should you ever have a problem with which you feel that we can help, do not be afraid to come and discuss it with us. The staff try to be available to talk with parents after school; if you know that the discussion will last for more than a few minutes, it is helpful if you could make an appointment beforehand.
Parents of prospective pupils are always welcome to visit the school. A telephone call during the morning will secure an appointment at a mutually convenient time.
Sidemoor First School and Nursery has about 240 pupils and is located in the Sidemoor district of Bromsgrove. It caters for children from the ages of 3 to 9. It has served the local community since 1884. In April 2007, the school left its site on Broad Street and moved to a brand new building in superb grounds. Sidemoor is a popular school, with professional and caring staff, which has maintained a good reputation for its excellent provision of primary education.
This website is part of a continuing process to ensure good communication between parents, children, staff and governors. These four groups, working together, ensure the continuing success of Sidemoor in educating the children of Bromsgrove. We welcome comments about this site and any other school matter, and you can contact us by clicking on the 'Contact Us' button on the left of this page. The site is an addition to our other forms of communication as not everyone has (or perhaps wants!) access to the internet. We hope the site will also be of interest to prospective parents and those who wish to find out more about the school prior to a 'real life' visit.
The school's aims are to:
* create a happy, stimulating and safe environment for both children and adults;
* develop a love of learning and the opportunity for each individual to achieve the highest possible standards;
* enable children to become confident, resourceful, enquiring and independent learners;
* create an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding and consideration for the ideas, attitudes, values and feelings of others;
* foster children's self esteem, personal development and wellbeing;
* foster individual and group responsibility;
* enable children to understand their community and help them feel valued as part of this community. |
