It is important that you make a good impression on you first page so that visitors continue to explore your site.

Your home page should contain key information about yourself and your organisation such as your contact details, postal address, phone numbers etc.

The DfES provide guidelines on what should be on your website and these can be found at http://safety.ngfl.gov.uk

It is also a good idea on a home page to give an explanation to your visitors on how to navigate their way around the site and where things are located, ie: to find out about the most recent information about our school click on the latest news button on the left hand side.
