Headteacher's Welcome
My name is Jack Robinson and I am in Year 5.
Mr Welsh, our Headteacher, asked my Class if they would like to welcome visitors to our School website.
We have nearly 450 children aged 3-11 years and also an integrated Children’s Centre.
There are 115 children in our early years education and daycare rooms. These rooms are called Ducklings (0-18 months), Ladybirds (18 months-3 years), Butterflies (3 years), and Hectors (3+ years). We then have Nursery Class and two Reception Classes. Mr Welsh told us that the Community School works with all these children aged 0-5 in a new Early Years Foundation Stage.
The four classes in Years 1 and 2 make up Key Stage 1.
There are nine classes altogether in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 which make up Key Stage 2.
From September the Community School will be organised into three parts:
EYFS 0-5
Years 1, 2, and 3
Years 4, 5, and 6.
The Community School also has Extended Services which means we have a Speech and Language Therapist, Health Visitors, other Health professionals, Family Support Workers, and other services working from Goddard Park, with local families in Park North, Park South, and Walcot East.
Our Community School is very exciting and we work hard, but we behave ourselves. Sometimes it is great fun.
This year the School Council, which I sit on is creating a lot of playground changes. The Governors gave us a budget to spend so we researched what children and adults liked and disliked about out playground. We visited other school playgrounds and decided what we liked. We then interviewed three companies who talked about their play products. Then we presented our ideas to Mr Welsh and the Governors using powerpoint. I was very scared, but they really enjoyed our work. We are hoping the new play equipment will be ready for September.
